SIG-Linux Topic:  Linux Kernel Internals

Presented by Sharan Kalwani

The Linux kernel is the heart of the Linux operating system, responsible for managing hardware resources, providing essential services, and facilitating communication between software components. It serves as an interface between user-space applications and the underlying hardware, abstracting away hardware complexities and providing a unified platform for software development. In this talk we will skim the surface of the design of the kernel, so we can gain a glimpse into why things work the way they do, and gain an appreciation for the work involved.

  2. Early in his presentation Tom said an Electric Vehicle (EV) charger required 3-phase power.
To clarify that: Level 3 EV chargers do generally require 480 volt 3-phase power, Level 2 EV chargers generally require a 240 volt 50 or 60 amp circuit, and Level 1 EV chargers generally require a 120 volt outlet. There are probably exceptions to all, and there are a lot of variables so your mileage may vary.
